Painting outside, en plein air, is exhilarating, and not gonna lie, can
be overwhelming. But if the air is brisk, as it was this day, focus is
usually clear and when painting "in the zone" your worries fade with
the concentration on your motif and how you are going to paint it.

Happy summer Subscriber!
I hope wherever you are it is not too hot. I have gone out several
times this spring/summer to paint here in Juneau, either alone or with
my painting buddies. Just want to show you a few of those paintings
here in Studio News. I already have published Mt. Golub on my website,
but the following two small paintings are for your eyes only - until
the end of July, when I will get them up on my website: TeriRobusStudio
. At the end of this newsletter are
private links to view the paintings.
Mid-June found me painting on a garden path at Juneau's Jensen-Olson
Arboretum . The pink Rhododendrons
were magnificent! I rarely am able to capture the fleeting dappled sun
on the grass, but feel I got it this time!

Recently, on a rare gorgeous sunny & warm day, a whole pack of us
painters headed to Sheep Creek, at the Thane (south) end of town to
paint. At this time of year there are no dead and dying salmon on the
beach, and the grasses were at their peak in color and waving beauty.

In this painting I also caught a boat zooming toward town with my
brush. While we painted there was tons of boat activity on the water,
and fisherpeople heading to the water with their fishing gear. At one
point I saw a little shorebird with a bobbing tail which turned out to
be a Spotted Sandpiper.
The pictures below were taken from where I set up my easel to paint.
